How it works
Pick your county, read this month's list, find a supplier or a class. Here is where each piece comes from.
Where do the planting dates come from?
From the University of Florida's extension service, UF/IFAS Gardening Solutions, which publishes what to plant each month in North, Central and South Florida (the source page). We restate those lists with credit and add nothing of our own to them. UF/IFAS has noted that its edible planting dates are under review; your county extension office has the current local word.
Where do the crop lessons come from?
Each lesson restates, in our own words, what UF/IFAS publishes about that crop: the Florida Vegetable Gardening Guide for varieties, spacing and days to harvest, the UF/IFAS Gardening Solutions crop pages for care, pests and harvest, and the aquaponics literature (the Southern Regional Aquaculture Center and the FAO manual) for how the crop behaves in a system. Every section carries footnotes to the documents it came from, and where no document was found the lesson says so instead of guessing. Lessons are not a substitute for your county extension office.
How do you decide which region my county is in?
UF/IFAS draws the lines at State Road 40 (north of it is North Florida) and State Road 70 (south of it is South Florida). We read a county map against those roads. Counties the roads run through are marked "on the line", and their pages point to the neighbouring calendar too. If you know your garden sits on the other side of the road from where we placed the county, use the other calendar.
Does the same calendar apply to aquaponics?
For what to plant and when, yes: temperature and day length drive the calendar, not the soil. Aquaponics changes how you grow (no soil, constant moisture, nutrients from fish), not which season a tomato wants. Greenhouses and indoor systems stretch the seasons, and your supplier or trainer can say by how much.
Where do the supplier and workshop listings come from?
From the businesses' own websites: name, city, what they sell or teach, website and business phone. Each listing shows the date it was last checked. We list businesses, not people, and we don't publish email addresses. If a listing is wrong or missing, email the address on the privacy page.
What happens when I send a request?
We pass it to Florida aquaponics suppliers or trainers, including ones that pay us for introductions, and they reply to you directly. The privacy page says what we keep and for how long.
How current is the site?
Built 2026-11-02. "This month" pages follow the build date, and the site is rebuilt monthly; every month's list is always available from the calendar.
