Aquaponics workshops and training in Florida

Hands-on days at working farms, extension courses and longer programmes. The directory is being compiled from providers' own sites; the request form below already reaches Florida trainers.

What a good course covers

  • System types (media beds, rafts, towers) and which suits your space and budget.
  • Water chemistry you will actually test: pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, temperature, dissolved oxygen.
  • Fish choice under Florida's rules, stocking and feeding, and what summer heat does to oxygen.
  • Plants that pay: what grows well in Florida's seasons (our planting calendar is the start).
  • Failures and fixes: pump outages, pests, algae, and the first month's cycling.

Questions to ask the trainer

  • Is there a working system on site, and will I handle fish and test water, or watch slides?
  • How many people per class, and how long per day?
  • Is the material Florida-specific: heat, hurricanes, state fish rules?
  • What does the fee include, and what happens if a class is cancelled?
